London Eye

The London Eye is the most popular tourist attraction in the UK and is well worth a visit at least once. One of the largest Ferris Wheel’s in the world, the London Eye takes you on a bird’s eye tour of all of London in just over 30 minutes. The views are magnificent. Avoid it on a cloudy day and if you want some particularly magical photos or video – try to arrange your trip around dusk (you can buy your chosen time in advance). It’s a hard attraction to miss and is centrally located on London’s Southbank which is home to a ton of other tourist attractions worth visiting.

Really wonderful! Try to stand next to a British person with grandkids in tow–you’ll be guaranteed a running commentary on what you are looking at!

Definitely worth a stop – especially on your first trip to London. A bit pricey but worth it.

My first time on The Eye was back in 2001. At that time they had a guide in each “egg”. It was great as he pointed out all the different places that we were seeing. On my last trip, after telling my friends how great The Eye was, I was vastly disappointed. There is no longer a guide in each egg. No one to let you know what you are seeing or pointing things out. You can get an audio thingee, but who wants to spend a half hour listening to that. I much preferred having a real person pointing out the various areas of interest.

That was my last flight on The Eye. Next time I go to London, I won’t bother.
