The London Eye is one of our favorite attractions in London. We recommend that all first time visitors take the opportunity to ride one of the largest ferris wheels in the world and get a very unique view of London from above.

With careful planning, you can ensure that you’ll enjoy your ‘flight’ on the London Eye. Here are some helpful tips.

Book Ahead to Avoid the Lines

The London is is one of the most popular attractions in London so it can get very crowded, especially in the summer months. That’s why we recommend book ahead. If you buy your tickets in advance, you can skip right to the front of the line.

Book a Dusk Flight

For the most beautiful views of London, we recommend a late afternoon, early evening flight. London looks the best when it’s bathed in that late afternoon golden glow and if you ride the Eye at this time, you’ll have the best views of London.

Consider Other Day Trips

If you’re inspired to travel further afield, then consider taking the Eurostar to Paris – it’s just over 2 hours direct by train now. It’s a super fun day out and you can even take the train all the way to Disneyland Paris.

Don’t Forget Your Camera

Don’t forget to take a good camera with you so you can capture the best pictures while you’re going around the London Eye. Be sure to get a camera with a fast shutter speed so you can get the best pictures without motion blur.

Pack Motion Sickness Medicine

If you’re overly sensitive to motion, then definitely pack some motion sickness medicine with you when you go on the London Eye. The Gondolas may sway a little in the wind and you are essentially going in a big circle. This can make some people ill.
